History of Dinerware
Dinerware is based in Seattle, Washington. Established in 2000, the company was founded by Carl
English - a former Microsoft executive and Seattle restaurateur Departing Microsoft, English established
and operated a Seattle wine bar for three years. After discovering that most restaurant POS systems were
based upon obsolescent 1980s computer technology, English saw an opportunity to recreate restaurant
POS with advanced SQL database technology. He developed Dinerware in response to the need for a
high-quality, easy-to-use POS solution.
English and his associates believe strongly in leveraging current technology. They rewrite Dinerware from
the ground up every couple of years in order to use technology to Dinerware’s advantage.
Dinerware is now being used in over 1,000 separate restaurants, ranging in size from small coffee shops
to corporate entities with up to 28 restaurants. The list is growing every day.
Also, from a support standpoint we have 400 separate restaurants in the Seattle area, with only 3
technicians, no that's quality!
