POSLeader.com
What makes Dinerware’s Menu functionality different?

Dinerware believes that the menu is yours.  Therefore, you should be able to build, change and manage
your menu without outside help.  In most POS Systems, doing anything with the menu requires you to
contact the dealer and have them make the change.  There are a few systems that allow you to build your
own menu, however, the actual building is generally complicated and often falls back on the shoulders of
the Reseller because of the complexity involved.

We want you to take ownership of this product.  Dinerware is built to be worked with by the restaurant
owner, not the Reseller.  We believe that working with your menu in your version of Dinerware is so easy,
that you won’t need us.

Unlimited Menu Items

Because of its design, Dinerware can support virtually unlimited number of Screen Categories, Menu
Items, Item Groups, Choice Sets and Choices.  We would recommend attempting to outline your menu on
paper before entering anything so that you can streamline the process.

Creating a new Menu item

This is a quick step be step to show just how easy it is to add a new menu item.  After that we will explain
each of the menu screens.

In this example we are going to add “Prime Rib” to the menu.

  • Open the Management window and click on the Menu button.
  • Because we are working with an already existing menu, and just adding to it, some of the
steps will not need to occur.

  • In the Menu, Revenue, and Tax Setup window, Click the Menu Items button so that it is displayed in
    Red.

  • Click the New button.

  • In the Edit Menu Item window, Enter the new Menu Item Name.  (12 oz. Prime Rib)
  • In the Alternate Kitchen Print Name, enter what should be sent to the Kitchen.  (Rib)
  • Select the appropriate Revenue Class.  (Food)
  • Because this item will have a unique price, we will select that option rather than an Item Group.
  • Set the price.  ($21.50)
  • Select the screen category that the item should be displayed under.  (Entree)
  • Select the Choice sets that should be applied to the Item.  (Sauce, Temperature, Soup-Salad-
    Fries, & Optional Sides)
  • Select where this should print.  (Kitchen)
  • Click OK to save the new Item.

  • Now, we also need to add Au Jus to the system as it is not currently part of our menu.
  • In the Menu, Revenue, and Tax Setup window, Click the Choices button so that it is displayed in
    Red.
  • Select New.
  • In the Edit Choice window, enter the new Choice Name.  (Au Jus)
  • Because this will be included in the price of the Prime Rib, we don’t need to set any price here.
  • In the Is Part of these choice sets field, select the appropriate choices.  (Sauce)
  • Click OK to finish.

We are now done entering everything new that needed to be added to the system in order to set up this
menu item.

When we return to the Ordering window, here is what we will see.
  • Under Entrée, there is now a new listing called 12 oz. Prime Rib.

  • If we add it to a ticket, the following additional Choice Sets appear.

  • From Sauce, we can choose any combination we want.
  • From Temperature, we must make only one selection.
  • From Sides, we must make one selection.  (Note that Baked Potato requires a selection from
Sauce, so a new Choice Set has been added.)
  • Once we make our selection from the Sauce subset for the Baked Potato, our order is complete
unless we want to add an optional side. (Grilled Onions)
